What does this have to do with working out?

539435_4858060521708_1785341413_nWhere the mind goes, the body will follow.  But, what if the mind follows the heart?  In Michael Singer's "The Untethered Soul", he describes how in a person who is liberated from the mind and has transcended to a place of clarity, the heart reacts before the mind starts talking.  "You don't spell it, you feel it." Spelling is a brain/mind activity.  Feeling is a heart activity.  So maybe, where the heart goes, the mind will follow. Then, where the mind goes, the body will follow.  The body's best practice then comes from the heart.

I have been on a journey of understanding how it is that we can push our bodies past common barriers and work out at a level beyond our own expectations.  I know that it is possible.  I have seen it.  You have seen it too. You've seen it if you've been present at a Special Olympics event.  You've seen it at the finish line of an Ironman, the MS150 Bike Rides, Walks for the Arthritis Foundation, the Redlands Bicycle Classic.  You've even seen it in yourself at the conclusion of a class or a training session that you really "let go" and let yourself experience: "you don't spell it, you feel it."  It's beyond your mind, it's your heart that allows your body to perform at world-class.   What does this have to do with working out? Everything!

I have been on a journey of understanding what it is that makes the people who come in to The Energy Lab different.  But I can never clearly define it, until I found out that I can't define it because it can't be written or spelled or thought, but can only be felt.  "You don't spell it, you feel it."  The difference then, is the heart.  The capability of the heart to feel.  The capability for passion.  To get to this place where things are felt from and with the heart requires a conscious shift of energy, a place where you can let go, and the awareness that "the very thing that was holding you in is now helping you out".  When you free your energies, you free your self, you are liberated.

The "work-in" and the "work-out" are like your anterior chain and your posterior chain, your abs and your back.  They require each other.  They are interconnected!  You cannot have one without the other.  That is the difference.  In our "work-out" we are present.  We are connected. We feel, ideally we feel so deeply that the vibrations can be felt.  The "letting go" can actually be felt.  Ask anyone who has trained with me on the "wall" and the "blue mat" what it feels like to "let go".  Or ask anyone in our Yoga Lab class or Melt sessions.  If you can train the "letting go" you can train your body to the deepest layers of awareness, to your best version and absolute world-class performance.  The difference is you don't have to try too hard.  It happens because you have trained it from a connected place where the heart creates the ability to feel.  It is rare and it is awesome and it is completely within your reach.  But like anything worth having, you work for it, you earn it. It cannot be handed to you.  I would love to show you the ways I have found to get there.  Are you up for the challenge?

When you achieve this heightened state of being, of awareness, you will find the benefits of "working-out". Your immune system is greatly enhanced. You are  far less likely to encounter injuries, your energy soars. You sleep soundly.  You make good decisions and feel balanced which leads to fueling your body with nutrition that sustains you instead of depletes you.  It begins when we can face fears. Decide to let go. Empty. Connect. Work-in. Work-out. Live a life guided by the heart.
